Web application development

A custom web application is software that runs in the browser, built around your company's process. MS Labs builds internal dashboards, client portals and full platforms with React, Next.js and a backend of your own.

What is a custom web application

A custom web application is software accessed through the browser, built to run a specific process in your company. It can be an internal dashboard that brings together orders, inventory and finance, a portal where your clients track their services, or a platform you sell as a product.

Unlike a marketing website, a web application has users who log in, data that changes all the time and business rules. It is real software that happens to run in the browser.

Web applications are one part of our custom software work.

When it makes sense

  • the operation lives in shared spreadsheets and nobody trusts the final number;
  • clients call or message to ask about order, delivery or service status;
  • you use three or four tools that don't talk to each other;
  • there is an approval, quoting or scheduling process that only works in someone's head;
  • you want to launch a digital platform (SaaS) and sell it to other companies.

What you get

  • A responsive web application with login, role-based permissions and audit trails when needed;
  • Backend, database and documented APIs;
  • Integrations with the systems you already use;
  • Data migration from spreadsheets or legacy systems;
  • Cloud hosting in your company's name, with backups and monitoring;
  • Source code and documentation in your repository.

How it works

  1. Discovery. We map the current process, who uses what and where the bottlenecks are.
  2. Proposal. Scope by module, delivery order, timeline and price, in writing.
  3. Development in cycles. Each delivery is a working part of the system your team can already test.
  4. Rollout. We migrate data, train the people who will use it and support the switch.
  5. Evolution. With the system running, we prioritize improvements based on real usage.

How much a web application costs

Cost depends on the number of modules, integrations, the volume of data to migrate and security requirements. An internal dashboard with a handful of screens is a very different project from a multi-tenant platform with recurring billing.

After discovery you get a fixed price for the first version. Our guide on how much custom software costs explains the factors in detail.

Frequently asked questions

Does a web app work on phones?

Yes. Every system we build is responsive and works in the browser on phones, tablets and computers, with nothing to install.

Can it integrate with the systems I already use?

In most cases, yes. We integrate via API with ERPs, CRMs, payment providers, spreadsheets and other systems. Where there is no API, we evaluate alternatives during discovery.

Where is the system hosted?

In a cloud account owned by your company. We choose the provider based on cost, requirements and where your users are.

Do you migrate data from spreadsheets or an old system?

Yes. Migration is part of the scope when needed, with validation so nothing gets lost on the way.
